WHY I LOVE MY JOB
I enjoy helping people resolve difficult problems, make tough decisions, and be successful. I also find great joy in giving people encouragement.
I was born in a farmhouse because the rural Tennessee town in which my parents lived did not have a hospital at the time.
Work hard, be honest, dream big dreams, and strive to be the very best at what you do. Also, never allow arrogance, greed, or the desire for power or fame to be driving forces in your business career. To keep my business career in the proper prospective, I also have found it very helpful to view my career as having a spiritual purpose.
Overwhelmed with fatigue near the end of a four-month, around-the-clock merger transaction, I went for an early morning swim at a downtown athletic club. When I finished, I got out of the co-ed swimming pool still half asleep. I then proceeded to take off my swimsuit and dry myself off with a towel. Suddenly, I came out of my sleepy stupor to realize that I was standing at the end of the pool “buck naked,” and not back in the men’s locker room. Suffice it to say, it was very unnerving to see people staring at me in total dismay.
I’m excited about my children, grandchildren, and other young people I have come to know, because they are now and will in the future be making this world a better place in which to live.
