Why She’s a Semifinalist: She grew up in Minnesota, but moved to Dallas straight out of high school, joining a traveling Oak Cliff church singing group. Although she still sings a tune with the old group now and again, her full-time job is decorating homes with her Kulp & Clark design firm. (“Window treatments are my specialty,” she says. “I love fabric.”) Her family includes a husband, two children, two stepchildren, and five grandkids, all of whom she sees at least twice a week. Yoga and reading top her favorite downtime rituals, along with spending time outdoors (particularly on the Katy Trail and at their second home in Park City, Utah). Clark and her husband dine out almost every evening, and the Dallas Country Club is their go-to spot.
Fun Fact: Philanthropy is a focal point of the Clarks’ lives, and this year’s charity of choice is the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, whose September gala they’re chairing.

How We Picked The Semifinalists: We solicited nominations through www.dmagazine.com, plus we threw in our own candidates. After looking through hundreds of nominations, and interviewing dozens of women, D Magazine editors narrowed the pool down to 20 semifinalists.
