Occupation: Restaurant owner
Why She’s a Semifinalist: If you don’t know this social maven from elite philanthropy circles, you’ve likely dined at her restaurant, Sambuca, which she owns with her brother. Being a restaurateur is a demanding gig, but Forsythe makes sure she finds time to enjoy her home’s five acres. Her favorite downtime hobbies include jogging with her dogs, River and Dakota, meditating in her backyard, and doing outdoor yoga. “I like being in nature,” she says. She wouldn’t give up a good glass of wine or her iPhone, but she’s a self-professed chameleon. “I could wear a cocktail dress to a charity gala, and I could also saddle my own horse at my ranch and ride for days.” Next up on her bucket list: hiking Kilimanjaro and visiting India.
Fun Fact: Forsythe calls herself a “tree hugger,” but she still loves to shop. Favorites include Calypso St. Barth, Tootsies, Scoop, and Elements.
How We Picked The Semifinalists: We solicited nominations through www.dmagazine.com, plus we threw in our own candidates.
After looking through hundreds of nominations, and interviewing dozens of women,
D Magazine editors narrowed the pool down to 20 semifinalists.
