Why She’s a Semifinalist: She may have been born in South Korea, but Mullenix is definitely a Texas girl, having lived in Dallas-Fort Worth since the age of 4. You can catch her out in the nightlife scene—she tends bar at Shinsei and Lounge 31—but she also knows how to get zen: she’s certified to teach yoga. When it’s not downward dogs and deep breaths, it’s traveling she loves most. “That’s why I work so much,” she says. A trip to Korea is on her to-do list, along with re-learning her native tongue and exploring the culture and foods of surrounding Asian countries. When she’s landlocked in Dallas, it’s Tei Tei, Tei-An, and Teppo Yakitori she turns to for Asian noshes. Luckily, her friends are food lovers, too. Girls’ night revolves around a restaurant. “It’s food first, then drinks, then trouble after,” she says.
Fun Fact: Watching reality TV is an admitted guilty pleasure. “I just feel like it makes everyone feel a little more normal.”
How We Picked The Semifinalists: We solicited nominations through www.dmagazine.com, plus we threw in our own candidates.
After looking through hundreds of nominations, and interviewing dozens of women,
