We solicited nominations through www.dmagazine.com, plus we threw in our own candidates. After looking through hundreds of nominations, and interviewing dozens of women, D Magazine editors narrowed the pool down to 20 semifinalists.

Why She’s a Semifinalist: Her namesake interior design business keeps her busy all over town. “To me, having a beautiful home is everything,” she says. Favorite shopping spots include George Cameron Nash, Mecox, and Brendan Bass. At her own home, you’ll find the loves of her life: her husband, whom she calls a “rock star” and “best friend,” and two children, an 11-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy. Finding “me” time, she says, is her guilty pleasure, and she uses it to catch up on her absolute favorite activity: reading.
