We solicited nominations through www.dmagazine.com, plus we threw in our own candidates. After looking through hundreds of nominations, and interviewing dozens of women, D Magazine editors narrowed the pool down to 20 semifinalists.

Why She's a Semifinalist: Christina, her husband, and their two children just moved here from Florida—she’s originally from Trinidad—but they already love the city. They’re taking in the scene by dining all over town. (Cane Rosso is a regular stop.) When they’re home, they like to make dinner. He cooks; Christina bakes. When she’s not playing games and wrestling with her kiddos, she really loves to be adventurous. “I’ve never been scared of doing things,” she says. Her favorite memories include a music festival in Zanzibar and a horseback trip through a Costa Rican rainforest, but her bucket list is full too. Skydiving, swimming in Capri’s Blue Grotto, rock climbing in Colorado, and horseback riding in Patagonia in Argentina make the list.
