How We Picked the Finalists:

We solicited nominations through www.dmagazine.com, plus we threw in our own candidates. After looking through hundreds of nominations, the D Magazine editors narrowed down the pool to 25 semi-finalists. We brought them in for face-to-face interviews, then narrowed down the list to the 20 finalists you see here.

Why She’s a Semifinalist: When she’s not strutting her stuff in front of a lens or greeting restaurant patrons, she’s reading (she just finished David Sedaris’ Me Talk Pretty One Day), gardening, and dining on her favorite dishes at York Street. She says she’s not much of a goal setter and more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants kind of girl. Right now, she’s all about remodeling the interior of her home and maybe even adding a pool. Why all the nesting? It could be that a baby’s in the future. “My husband and I are trying to adopt right now.”

Fun Fact: She’s still working on finishing the photo album for her wedding, which took place 11 years ago.
